Beaches, littoral zones, and areas of shallow water are often challenging to access and measure water depths accurately. HELIX robots provide an autonomous surveying solution. Traditional equipment, such as a sonar system, is effective at mapping depths underwater, but requires a depth of 50 cm or more of water. This accounts for the draught of the sensor head and a minimum working distance for the sonar (which varies greatly by sonar system). HELIX robots are effective at navigating shallow waters and can be outfitted with a proprietary mechanical tool called Manta™. The Manta™ can collect data in these shallow waters and integrate into a comprehensive data set of a water body.
*Note, Manta is only available on a trial basis.
