Job Description: Health & Safety and Logistics Manager

The Health & Safety and Logistics Manager will work closely with the Director of Operations and other team members to satisfy all operational needs. To do this, the Health & Safety and Logistics Manager needs to be detail oriented, able to work well under a challenging environment to meet deadlines, demonstrated organizational skills and ability to exercise good judgment, motivated and dedicated to a commitment to quality and success as a team. The ideal candidate is an effective team worker, who listens well, respects diversity of opinions and has an open, clear and succinct communication style.

The Safety and Logistics Manager will bring strong operational principles and a desire to build out our processes. As a growing technology company, we’ve had to create systems and tools that change to match our needs. You will be responsible for maintaining a robust and effective health and safety program in accordance with OH&S regulations and industry best practices. The successful candidate will work with all levels of the team to ensure safe work practices and a front-line driven safety culture.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership for the company in all HSE matters and act as an expert resource to employees, managers and contractors on all matters pertaining to OH&S
  • Oversee performance in EHS core values for operations on the site, manage the site EHS systems and lead continuous improvement in EHS
  • Advise the Director of Operations on compliance issues and action items
  • Report regulatory issues, including spills, releases and emergencies and compile safety statistics for internal and external reporting
  • Assist in the development of HSE procedures and documentation for newly developed technologies which is compliant with local, provincial, state, federal and client requirements
  • Coordination of logistics for travel and shipping of robotic platform
  • Research ideal shipping techniques and carriers and monitor inbound and outgoing shipments
  • Review and analyze the effectiveness of current programs; recommend improvements to policies and procedures
  • Conduct comprehensive safety orientations for new hires
  • Compliance site management (ISNetworld, Avetta, Complyworks)
  • Maintain and update OH&S Manual
  • Conduct on-site safety audits/inspections to ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies and procedures
  • Develop strategy to proactively improve safety culture on an ongoing basis
  • Review site specific health and safety plans in an effort to identify risks and develop mitigation efforts
  • Report and conduct incident investigations to determine root causes and corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with all client OH&S requirements


  • Post-secondary education (Degree or Diploma) in Health and Safety
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mining, oil and gas, or industrial safety.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of OH&S legislation and industry standards
  • NCSO certification is an asset
  • Trained and proficient in incident investigation and reporting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Second languages are always an asset


Daily reporting to the Director of Operations. Communicate effectively on an ongoing basis with the entire Copperstone team on all aspects of Health and Safety.

Salary and Benefits

Expected salary range $50-70k/year. Flexible time-off vacation policy. Copperstone offers extended health and dental employer benefits.
